The concept behind The de Young Museum residency was for Dana to draw museum goers on the iPad. Additionally with help from museum interns trained by Zed, the museum visitors also did portraits on museum iPads. All the portraits were printed and hung in the gallery.
This residency developed out of the Dana Zed iPod Touch drawings of people riding the subway between Oakland and San Francisco. Dana created a fairy tale environment in the museum where people drew each other. It was comprised of Dana Zed glass sculptures, self illuminated, and eight double sided mirrored walls and the portraits of course.
